If you had a magic wand to change one thing in the world, what would it be?
If you had a magic wand to change one thing in the world, what would it be?
Bhavishya, in Hindi, means the future.
Today, we find ourselves at a crossroads. We can either build cities that further alienate most while serving a few, or we can build ones that are shared equitably, vibrant, green and rich with life.
Come join us to imagine and create cities that feel like home to all.
Our future will be shaped by the stories we tell today, the voices we choose to strengthen, the histories we learn from, the way we nurture our relationships with each other and the planet, and most importantly, the inner world we cultivate.
The Bhavishya Lab, an India-based venture, uncovers histories of communities and living beings that often get left behind, brings forth stories of people and species at the frontlines of climate change, and designs unique creative projects that nurture coexistence, care and mutual respect, and fuels imagination through reflection and inner work.

A news platform dedicated to bring out stories of climate change impacts and resilience from the frontlines- vulnerable communities, species and ecosystems in urban India.

A living archive that documents the music, dance, art and other cultural productions by urban poor, migrant communities in India. It traces aspirations and needs, joys and griefs, exploitation and leisure, relationships and emotions of the moving workers of India.

An exploration of love, allyship and gender roles in everyday life. The project builds allyship between genders, and helps rethink gender roles and reimagine relationships. It also builds leaders who break gender barriers and support each other in the same.

A space for reflection and conversation where film, art, literature, stories, and shared experiences open windows into our emotional landscapes. Through intimate gatherings, the salon explores how our inner worlds shape our lives, relationships, communities, and the futures we imagine.

A wellness-based venture which offers immersive and diverse musical experiences to audiences in heritage spaces, coupled with transnational history narration and local cuisines. Started by our founder, Shruti, and musician Sharad Joshi.

An educational initiative where we support schools, organizations and projects in India working with children and youth by designing programs, curricula and trainings on environment and climate leadership. We also support storytelling and M&E for such projects. We deliver select trainings.

In a world where divisive stories increasingly shape how we see one another, this children-focused initiative practices intentional and thoughtful history-telling that nurtures empathy, curiosity, and care. Through diverse and often unheard perspectives, it helps young people recognize historic inequalities, value sharing and coexistence, and imagine futures rooted in justice, peace, and respectful coexistence with the living world.

The Bhavishya Advisory works with organizations in India on program design and strategy, impact measurement and documentation, and strategic outreach related to climate justice, gender equity, community inclusion and engagement, and young people's leadership.
Through participatory and arts-based approaches, it helps partners create initiatives that are more inclusive, impactful, and rooted in lived realities.

Shruti is a creative, futures thinker with a keen sense of changemaking from the ground up. She has diverse experience in the development and policy space, beginning her career as a legislative assistant to a Member of the Indian Parliament and representing India at the G20 Youth Summit in Shanghai in 2016.
Since then, she has worked to advance change from multiple directions-from evidence-based advocacy through several first-of-its-kind research initiatives, to designing and supporting grassroots campaigns, and co-designing policy with government institutions. Over time, she has found the greatest meaning in working closely with people’s movements and community-centered programs, having run several such programs on climate resilience, air pollution, gender and green livelihoods among other themes.
Shruti is a history detective, always searching for hidden histories and systemically unheard stories. She holds a dual Masters degree in International and World History from Columbia University in New York and the London School of Economics and Political Science.
She also deeply enjoys working with children, be it on climate and environmental issues, community leadership, gender or history. With a long-standing love for culture and the arts, she has increasingly woven creative approaches into all the work she does.
The Bhavishya Lab is her tribute to an interdisciplinary way of thinking and working, and to a deep commitment to nurturing futures, cities, communities, and societies that are warm, inclusive and friendly to all.
